Volunteer Opportunities

GED/High School Tutor: Give support by providing one-on-one tutoring to teen moms who are preparing for the GED test, materials and orientation to tutoring is provided.  Subjects include reading, language arts, math, science and social studies. Volunteers needed Tuesday through Friday between 9am to 5pm, although hours and days vary depending on client availability.  Minimum 2 hour weekly commitment requested.

Childcare: Provide entertaining and educational activities to children of our teen moms, (average age is 18 months old), in a fun and safe atmosphere. Your help allows our teen moms to focus on their studies and participate in our valuable program. Must be 16 years old. Volunteers needed Tuesday through Friday between 9am to 5pm, although hours and days vary depending on child availability.

Career Preparation: This includes assisting clients in the office with different program activities such as Microsoft office training, resumes, on-the-job office training and job applications. Volunteers needed Tuesday through Friday for daytime shifts between 9am to 5pm, although hours and days vary depending on client availability.

Mentor: Mentors for Young Mothers is a one-on-one mentoring program that matches female volunteers with teen moms. Activities are scheduled based on mentor and teen mom availability. Must be at least 21 years old.

Workshop Facilitator: Facilitate a life skill workshop in an area of your expertise. Volunteers needed Wednesday through Friday from 1pm to 2pm or 2:15pm to 3:15pm. Availability varies, topics must be approved, and workshops must be scheduled in advance. 

Alley’s House Boutique: Put your organizational skills to use and help us keep our donated goods organized and available for our moms. Volunteers needed Monday through Friday between 9am to 5pm.

Administrative Assistant: Provide hands-on support to program and executive staff. Volunteers needed Monday through Friday between 9am to 5pm.

Marketing Committee: Work with our Executive Director on branding, social media, blogs, website updates, and enhancing community awareness.

Special Events Committee: Help plan and support our special events throughout the year.
